In 2025, the undergraduate degree program in Physical Education at the Federal University of Northern Tocantins (UFNT) celebrated the 10th anniversary of its implementation. Initially, the program was affiliated with the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT). As of 2019—following the enactment of the law establishing UFNT (Law No. 13,856 of July 8, 2019)—it became an undergraduate program belonging to a group of federal universities known as "supernovas." In July 2020, UFNT officially began its transition period, during which the Araguaína and Tocantinópolis campuses were separated from UFT to form the structure of the new Northern Tocantins university.
To commemorate this milestone in the program's history, the I Academic Week of the Physical Education Program at UFNT (SAEF) was established. The faculty participated in SAEF from its initial planning and organization to the execution of the event. It also received logistical and infrastructural support from the Center for Education, Humanities, and Health at UFNT—the academic center to which the program belongs in the city of Tocantinópolis, Tocantins. The event took place within the Center's facilities, utilizing its classrooms and auditorium.
The SAEF schedule featured lectures, roundtables, and the submission and presentation of abstracts across various areas of Physical Education, including: Physical activity, exercise, and health; Culture, leisure, corporeality, and gender; Adapted physical education; Physical education and aging; School physical education; Management, public policies, and the labor market; and Sports training. In total, the event registered 141 attendees and received 25 academic submissions.
Beyond serving as a celebration of the program's 10th anniversary, SAEF provided numerous undergraduate students with the opportunity to gain practical experience in writing scientific abstracts and delivering oral presentations.
These experiences allow students to engage with the scientific environment, significantly contributing to their academic development. Finally, it is noteworthy that the realization of this event was only possible due to the collective effort of the Physical Education faculty, as well as the active interest and participation of the student body.
We trust that this inaugural event will pave the way for future editions, featuring an expanded schedule of lectures, the participation of faculty from other universities, and enhanced networking opportunities within the academic community, thereby enriching the scientific field and the educational background of students and attendees. We are confident that the event was a memorable milestone, while acknowledging the need for continuous improvement in future editions.
