As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
The contribution is original and unpublished, and is not currently under evaluation for publication by another journal. If it was presented as an abstract at academic events, this MUST be informed to the editor and noted at the end of the manuscript.
The submission file is in Microsoft Word, OpenOffice, or RTF format.
Blind Review: To ensure a blind peer review, all author identification has been removed from the document properties (e.g., in Word: File > Info > Check for Issues > Inspect Document) and the manuscript body.
Text Formatting: The text must be double-spaced (2.0) throughout; use 12-point Times New Roman font; employ italics rather than underlining (except for URLs); and have top, bottom, left, and right margins of 2.54 cm (1 inch). The first line of each paragraph must have a 1.27 cm indent. Tables and figures must be embedded within the text, not placed at the end of the document.
Citation Style: The manuscript strictly adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements of the American Psychological Association (APA).
ORCID Registration: All authors have authenticated and linked their updated ORCID iDs during the submission process.
Ethics and Conflicts of Interest: The research presents no conflicts of interest and complies with all ethical procedures, including Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval when applicable.
Artificial Intelligence (AI): If used, AI tools were limited to language editing or generating referenced images, not for creating scientific content, data analysis, or substantial writing. All AI use was human-curated and properly disclosed.
Author Guidelines
The Arquivos Brasileiros de Educação Física (Arq. Bras. Educ. Fís.) publishes manuscripts with a strong methodological and statistical emphasis. The submission, evaluation, and publication of articles are completely free of charge (there are no fees or APCs - Article Processing Charges). Texts may be submitted in Portuguese, English, or Spanish.
1. General Conditions and Scientific Integrity
Originality and Exclusivity: Articles must not be under simultaneous evaluation by any other journal. Multiple submissions constitute a severe ethical breach and will result in the immediate rejection of the manuscript.
Plagiarism Detection: Upon submission and prior to final approval, all manuscripts undergo a similarity check using the CopySpyder software. We strictly repudiate all forms of plagiarism, self-plagiarism, data falsification, or ghost authorship.
Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI): AI tools must be restricted to linguistic review or the generation of properly referenced images. AI must not be used to elaborate scientific content or analyze data. All usage must be validated by human curation and explicitly declared.
Research Ethics: Studies involving human subjects must explicitly declare compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki and provide the approval number from the Institutional Review Board (IRB) / Research Ethics Committee in the text.
2. Peer Review Process ABEF adopts a double-blind peer review system. Articles are sent to two expert reviewers without disclosing the authors' identities. In case of divergence, a third reviewer is consulted. Authors whose articles are accepted will automatically join the journal's ad hoc reviewer board.
3. General Manuscript Formatting (APA 7th Edition)
Text and Font: Times New Roman font, size 12. Text alignment must be left-aligned (not justified).
Spacing: The text must be double-spaced (2.0) throughout its entirety, including the title page, abstracts, body text, block quotes, and references.
Margins and Indents: Margins of 2.54 cm (top, bottom, left, and right). The first line of each paragraph must have a 1.27 cm indent.
Anonymity (Blind Manuscript): The main manuscript file must NOT contain the authors' names, affiliations, or direct acknowledgments. Word file properties must be cleared before submission.
4. Article Categories and Limits To ensure reproducibility, ABEF requires the use of international methodological checklists, which must be attached as supplementary documents upon submission:
Original Articles: Clinical trials, observational, experimental, or quasi-experimental studies.
Limits: Up to 3,500 words (excluding abstracts, tables, figures, and references), up to 5 tables/figures, and up to 30 references.
Clinical Trials: Must mandatorily possess a registration number in a database validated by the WHO/ICMJE. The use of the CONSORT checklist and flowchart is required (link here).
Limits: Up to 3,500 words, up to 5 tables/figures, and up to 30 references.
Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses: Prior registration on the PROSPERO platform is recommended. The use of the PRISMA checklist and flowchart is required (https://www.prisma-statement.org/).
Limits: Up to 5,000 words, up to 5 tables/figures, and up to 35 references.
Case Studies: Structured reports with robust methodological grounding and current literature review.
Limits: Up to 3,500 words, up to 5 tables/figures, and up to 30 references.
Scientific Study Protocols: Publication of methods for ongoing clinical trials or systematic reviews.
Letters to the Editor: Scientific critiques of articles recently published in the journal (maximum timeframe of 6 months after the original publication).

Results: Objective presentation of the main data. Figures and tables must be inserted in the body of the text right after their first citation, with the title above and the source below (minimum resolution of 300dpi for images).
Discussion: Interpretation in light of the literature, methodological limitations, and implications.
Conclusion (or Final Considerations): Direct answer to the formulated objectives.
6. Mandatory Declarations Before the References, the following declarations must be included in the Blind Manuscript:

The list must be double-spaced and use a hanging indent of 1.27 cm from the second line of each reference onwards.
The inclusion of an active DOI, formatted as a link (e.g., https://doi.org/...), is MANDATORY for all sources that possess this identifier.
