Abstract

Abstract: This work articulates language studies from a systemic-functional perspective to the context of Portuguese as a Host Language. The objective is to show, through the analysis of lexical-grammatical realizations of the transitivity, speech functions and modality meanings that build the field and the tenor in portuguese teaching material as a Host Language. Based on the systemic-functional perspective of language (HALLIDAY, 1989; HALLIDAY; MATHIESSEN, 2014), the results showed that the information is concentrated in the both fields documentation and legislation. As for the tenor variable, there was a prevalence of statements and questions and the use of modality to soften commands.

Pós-doutora em Linguística Aplicada e Estudos da Linguagem pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo (PUCSP). Mestra e Doutora em Letras pela Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM), com estágio doutoral na Faculdade de Letras de Lisboa, Portugal. Graduada em Letras – Licenciatura em Língua Portuguesa e Literaturas. Professora Associada do Departamento de Letras Vernáculas e do Programa de Pós-Graduação em Letras da Universidade Federal de Santa Maria (UFSM). Vice-Diretora do Centro de Artes e Letras (CAL). Coordenadora do programa de extensão Ateliê de Textos na UFSM desde 2011. Autora das obras “Introdução à Gramática Sistêmico-Funcional em Língua Portuguesa” e “Diretrizes para elaboração e revisão de questões em processos seletivos”. Co-organizadora e autora da obra “Linguagem e representação: estudos em linguística sistêmico-funcional”.
