LINGUISTIC REPRESENTATIONS OF TRANS WOMEN ABOUT TRANSSEXUALITY IN THE CONTEXT OF CEARÁ

This article aims to analyze the linguistic representation of transsexual women from Ceará about the female transsexuality. To generate and collect data, I used online ethnography (ANDROUTSOPOULOS, 2008) through semi-structured interviews. In the analysis, the lexical-grammatical choices were considered in the light of the system of transitivity of the Systemic Functional Linguistics (HALLIDAY; MATTHIESSEN, 2014) and the category of Inclusion of the Theory of Representation of Social Actors (VAN LEEUWEN, 2008). The analysis indicates that the transsexual experience of the participants is mainly related to the mental world of 'feeling' and that the participants used assimilations and classifications to represent themselves as active participants in different situations.
