GeomorphologyAbstract
After 1968 with the University Reform in Brazil, several federal higher education units started to compose universities, supported by teaching, research and extension, thus requiring a better and more solid training of their professionals. At that moment, the teaching staff started to demand that their professors search for master's and doctorate degrees, in addition to a work routine that also involved scientific research. Professor Jorge Soares Marques was one of those first to join the Geography department of the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro as a professional. However, he is not a researcher who has made a name for himself in the construction of Brazilian Geomorphology. This is due to the fact that in the initial decades after the reform periodicals were scarce, the authoring and guidance systems were different, causing many research activities to not be properly computed. This interview seeks to show the participation of this teacher in the construction of Geomorphology and Physical Geography in Rio de Janeiro.
