This paper discusses in general terms, the paramount importance of sustainable and economically viable practices such as family farming and agroecology, therefore, define and conceptualize both techniques, comparing them with traditional models. We realize we draw a reconstruction of the whole process of development of agricultural practices from the conquest of the environmental by the humans, and we characterize the emergence of models called into question. Thus, we define the family farming and agroecology as transformative practices, putting two case studies as evidence relating to the Alternativa Vicente Nica and the Assentamento Peixe Cru.
