Abstract

This work is the result of a visit to the Central community, in the Raposa Serra do Sol Indigenous Land, which is located in the municipality of Uiramutã, Roraima. The objective is to report the relations of the community in prominence with the society that involves it evidencing their worldviews, the way of living of the Macuxi people as a people who have suffered conflicting contacts with non-indigenous people (squatters, farmers, prospectors), in addition to the political vision that the community and adjacencies have. The authors Santilli (1997), Kopenawa (2015), Bethonico (2020) are theorists who contribute to history, the worldview and the political and territorial issues of the Macuxi people. The interviews with some residents and the experiences acquired during the visit are the elements that demonstrate the processes that the Central community went through. In this work we realize that the Macuxi people of the community in question are cohesive, have political struggles, are resilient and seek to maintain their customs, despite the mass culture already present in their daily lives.
