This article was conceived from the exercise “Daily Measures” conceived and elaborated by prof. Dr. Fernanda Padovesi Fonseca. This exercise was requested from first-year undergraduate students in Geography in the discipline "Introduction to Cartography" at the Department of Geography of the University of São Paulo in 2012. The idea of the exercise was that each student could think geographically about concepts related to the urban often neglected by Geographers, and also to think about their relationship with the city. For example, are the notions of distance, time, spatiality, scale understood by everyone in the same way? Certainly not. São Paulo, being a metropolis, does not allow its citizens to have their daily lives on the scale of the municipality. Therefore, the proposed article will analyze, through the data obtained and with the entries chosen for reflection (geographic scale, territory, geographic network, metropolis, megalopolis, gigalopolis, accessibility, distance, place, spatiality) and exercise elaboration, the forms of appropriation of the metropolis space by first-year geography students.
