The book Tropas e Boiadas, by Hugo de Carvalho Ramos, is a landmark work of Brazilian regionalist literature, published in 1917. With an appreciated language rich in regionalisms, Ramos portrays the backlands of Goiás at the beginning of the 20th century, highlighting its culture, daily life and challenges. A work that addresses the arduous life of drovers and cowboys, workers who symbolize resistance and connection with nature in a hostile environment. Furthermore, it explores the mysticism and spirituality presented in the backlands, elements that enrich the narrative and reinforce the cultural complexity of the region. Ramos uses descriptive language that brings the reader closer to the country universe, revealing the uniqueness of this geographic and social space. Tropas e Boiadas is not only a literary narrative, but also a historical and cultural record that preserves the traditions, legends and expressions of the Brazilian interior. The work stands out for its contribution to the appreciation of cultural diversity and the strengthening of regional identity, highlighting the relevance of the hinterland in the formation of Brazil.
