UMA LEITURA SOBRE A ORGANIZAÇÃO DOS FLUXOS DE PESSOAS DO ENTORNO DE PALMAS – TOCANTINS

Abstract

The text presents elements about the construction of the city of Palmas and its role in the organization of an urban network in the central region of Tocantins. The research was carried out through studies of the flows of people between the cities around Palmas and their interests in is in the city. The information was obtained by fieldwork and expanded with official data made available by ANAC and IBGE. The reading was based on the three dimensions proposed by Ribeiro (1998), distribution, production and administration network and with views on the regionalization process. The results are that from 2000 onwards it was consolidated in the urban network around Palmas and this is mainly due to the period in which this city had its commercial center consolidated.

Possuí Bacharelado em Geografia e Licenciatura em Geografia pela Universidade Federal do Tocantins. É mestre em Geografia pela Universidade Federal da Grande Dourados. Doutorando em Geografia pela Universidade Federal de Goiás. Líder do Grupo de Pesquisa GEGATO - Grupo de Estudos Geográficos da Amazônia e Tocantins, Pesquisador do Núcleo de Estudos Urbanos, Ágrarios e Regionais - NURBA/UFT. Desenvolve pesquisa sobre a formação territorial do Norte Goiano / Estado do Tocantins. Atualmente é Professor Adjunto do Curso de Geografia da Universidade Federal do Tocantins - Campus de Araguaína.

He holds a Bachelor's and Degree in Geography from the Federal University of Tocantins. He holds a Masters in Geography from the Federal University of Grande Dourados. PhD in Geography from the Federal University of Goiás. Leader of the Research Group GEGATO - Geographical Studies Group of the Amazon and Tocantins and Researcher at the Center for Urban, Agrarian and Regional Studies - NURBA/UFT. External Researcher at LABOTER/UFG. Develops research on "Territory and territorialities of riverside communities in the Legal Amazon - Tocantins" and on "Territory Identities and Places from Tocantins. Develops readings in the Study Group on "places" in Jöel Bonnemaison". He is currently Adjunct Professor of the Geography Course at the Federal University of Tocantins - Campus de Araguaína. Editor of the Revista Tocantinense de Geografia.
