Abstract

This study analyzes the environmental impacts of the urbanization process in the Granjeiro neighborhood, in Crato/CE. Based on the evidence of environmental damages at the site, this study sought to diagnose them succinctly, as well as predict the rise of new impacts. In order to do so, the research required bibliographical and empirical surveys. In this sense, it has become useful to read in a range of studies pertinent to this approach. Regarding empiria, the direct observation with the area in studies was developed and an interview with local residents was also carried out in order to contribute to the identification of the objectives proposed herein. The final results show the truthfulness of the environmental impacts in the Granjeiro, and in some cases directly influence the dynamics of adjacent neighborhoods. It is also observed that this is in a process of intensification of damages, due to numerous factors addressed throughout this work. Thus, the need for a reflection on these detriments emerges, as well as the need to think about possible alternatives. This research also opens the possibility of a broad approach in this sense, because this environmental issue is a problem found in different parts of the world, becoming a global phenomenon.
