DOSSIER: NUANCES OF AFRO-BRAZILIAN AND AFRO-CARIBBEAN FEMALE PROTAGONISM IN CONTEMPORARY LITERATURE

Call for Papers: Revista EntreLetras is seeking unpublished articles that deal with the literary production of contemporary female Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Caribbean writers for its dossier v. 15, n 3, 2024. The texts must analyze novels or short stories that bring the ethnic-racial divisions to the center of discussions as a starting point and highlight the importance of Black people in both the Brazilian and Caribbean social contexts. Preference will be given to texts that present female characters and highlight their social and racial transit constructed in the narratives as a questioning of the subjects’ realities in the face of stories that generally neglect their existence. It is recommended that authors present nuances of each writer's literary project, accompanied by the analysis of the chosen text, locating it in the decolonial debate as a counterpoint to colonialist and racist practices in the search for the right to difference and openness to other thought.

Summary: Present aspects of the literary production of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Caribbean writers, emphasizing ethnic-racial discussion, to problematize the importance of the production’s impact on the Brazilian and Caribbean social context.

Proposal Summary: The proposal focuses on presenting traces of the literary production of Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Caribbean writers in terms of social, political, and cultural aspects that bring ethnic-racial fissures to the center of analysis as a fundamental element for understanding criticism established by the authors to contemporary society. It is important to highlight that, when it comes to Afro-Brazilian and Afro-Caribbean literature, it is also relevant to include in the context of discussions data about the trajectories of the writers that motivate readers to learn more about the intellectual responsibilities and political activism of these women in the face of cultural and literary projects that they lead.
