A ESCRITA COMPARTILHADA COMO PRÁTICA SOCIAL E SOCIALIZANTE NO WATTPAD

Abstract

This paper aims to present the characteristics of self-publishing practices on Wattpad, a platform of shared stories and a reading and writing social network. A questionnaire was undertaken, which will be partially used, in order to better comprehend the users’ profile, their motivation for using Wattpad and the relation established with the shared writing literary practice. Based on the answers of the question “Why do you write on social networks?”, five categories of motivation were created and they indicate the interest for the practicality, collectivity, identity and interactivity featured on the platform. It is understood that with the changes that happen over time, like the evolution of the written culture, the electronic world (CHARTIER, 1998; 2002; 2010) and the democratization of computers (MURRAY, 2003), social practices, such as writing, were also modified through the contact with others (GERALDI, 1997), an essential element for the available content, mainly for literary writing, since it inserts a subject who conceives alongside the writer, and who exercises a socio-interactive and dialogical activity. This way of producing collectively and digitally creates several possibilities in a virtual environment, which no longer should be disassociated from the educational setting, and it requires pedagogical strategies in order to comprehend the multiplicity of genres found on the platform, their relations and its dynamism.
