Abstract

Considering interaction in different online contexts, this article aims to discuss the Affiliation established in comments published in English language teacher blogs and its relation with Appraisal. The Theory of Affiliation (Knight 2010) approaches language as a social process capable of negotiating shared values in a text and the Appraisal System (Martin e White 2005; White 2004) explores, describes and explains how language is used to evaluate. The results demonstrate that social processes in English language teacher discourse are responsible for critical interaction and are capable of sharing the values within a community
