COGNITIVE LINGUISTICS IN THE ANALYSIS OF BRAZILIAN PORTUGUESE
REFLECTIONS OF AN ACADEMIC TRAJECTORY

This work presents my academic journey, focusing on the aspects that led me to dedicate myself to teaching and research in Cognitive Linguistics. I focus on my arrival at Cognitive Linguistics itself, the creation of LINC/UFRJ Research Laboratory, and the publication of the book "Introduction to Cognitive Linguistics". Next, I outline an overview of the Theory of Mental Spaces, discussing the main notions that underpin the theory and the concept of (inter)subjectivity based on the notion of Basic Communicative Spaces Network (BCSN). Finally, I present an analysis of predictive conditionals in Brazilian Portuguese within the scope of this theoretical model.
