Abstract

The school is often the only opportunity for the young reader to be in touch with the texts and, therefore, with the most relevant social debates. It is imperative to provide reading experiences that contribute to their intellectual formation by ensuring the development of a political and historical awareness of diversity, the strengthening of identities and the concept of law. The purpose of this article is to discuss the use of the newspaper in a school environment, as a permanent activity, especially at the fundamental level of education, as a pedagogical tool for the formation of readers and for the education of ethno-racial diversities, with a view to furthering the actions of combating racism and discrimination, together with the political pedagogical project, as established by laws 10.639 / 03 and 11.645 / 08. In order to achieve this objective, it is proposed to study research in local and national newspapers such as: The Diário do Pará, O Liberal, O Estadão and O Globo for reports that refer to ethnic-racial diversity in comparison to newspapers of the period known as the Press Black, among them: The Freedom (1919-1920), Clarim d'Alvorada (1929-1940), Chibata (1932) and Dawn (1948). Finishing, the use of the newspaper in the school can contribute to transforming the reading experience into an experience of (re) historical-identity knowledge and (re) signification of Brazilian social representations.
