Abstract

The aim of this work is to investigate teachers’ view about pronunciation teaching regarding the dichotomy of English as a Foreign Language x Lingua Franca. Thus, 10 teachers answered a questionnaire about issues such as intelligibility and the role of the native speaker to verify their awareness concerning these aspects and how their practice is influenced through pronunciation teaching.  The results point out that teachers recognize the English as a Lingua Franca context as a reality, but struggle to distinguish its implications.
