Fire was one of the greatest discoveries of mankind and has several purposes. Depending on their employability, it can harm both rural and urban areas and especially human health. This research aims to demonstrate the negative as well as positive aspects of the use of fire in the development of agricultural activities in the municipality of Esperantina-TO. The methodology used included bibliographic survey, field research, studies and data analysis in documents and records, photographs, images, maps and tables. The result of this research indicates that there was a reduction in the number of fires, according to data reported by the Federal and State governments, based on the applicability of environmental laws that establish norms and rules for the preservation of all biomes, especially the Cerrado and the Amazon Forest, both highlighted in diverse numbers of species, animals and plants. As a conclusion, the study proposes that government officials use the Environmental Laws properly, enforcing those pre-established by them and enable and establish forms of inspection, and propose means and ways to raise awareness of populations against the factor of burning in Brazil, in States and Municipalities, so that there is an environment conducive to the sustainability of life.
