CONCEPTUAL AND PRACTICAL CONTRIBUTION OF THE UNIVERSITY EXTENSION TO THE CURRICULAR PROPOSALS IN THE GEOGRAPHY COURSE OF THE UNIVERSIDADE FEDERAL DO TOCANTINS CAMPUS ARAGUAÍNA

Abstract

This paper analyzes some of the conceptions of University Extension in Brazil, in an attempt to understand the extent practiced in Brazilian public universities. In the most recent period, the State has oriented much of its policies towards social inclusion, calling on the various actors to co-responsibility in coping with social issues. In this sense, public universities receive new functions of co-responsibility for social issues, functions that are especially attributed to University Extension programs in the various areas of knowledge. Thus, the university extension is discussed from the perspective of the curricular proposals of the Geography Courses. The object of analysis chosen is the Geography course of the Universidade Federal do Tocantins. For the development of this analysis, the Política Nacional de Extensão (2018), the Plano de Desenvolvimento Institucional -UFT (2016-2020) and the Projeto Pedagógico do Curso de Geografia PPC (2009) and (2019) were appropriated. It was found from this analysis that the extent of the Geography of UFT, presents particularities and generalities in relation to the relationship between teaching, research and extension, bringing the need for institutional and course adaptations.
