Abstract

The silviculture in the municipality of Dom Eliseu (PA) stands out with the Eucalyptus (Eucayiptus) and Paricá (Schizolobium amazonium) plantations started in the 1990s, with little adhesion and over time it has expanded with producers replacing their livestock areas with the Paricá and Eucalyptus plantations. The main objective of this work is to evaluate the environmental impacts of silviculture in this municipality. The methodology used was based on the environmental characterization of the area, location of the silviculture areas by satellite images with the GoogleEarth® program, identification of environmental impacts with field work, interviews with farmers and technicians. The problems detected in the Paricá plantations are the attack of the cicadas (Quesada Gigas), problems with fungi (Lasiodiplodiatheo bromae) and (Pestaloliopis sp) and the defoliant beetle (Costalimaita ferruginea) that attacked more than 12 species of different cloning affecting many plantations mainly in rainy season. The option for monoculture places the farmer dependent on a single source of income and the generation of jobs is reduced to planting and harvesting with an interval of 7 years.
