Abstract

This essay is an in-locus observation carried out through field work in Bragança, in the state of Pará. The field activity has its particularities and we sought, through reading about the Amazonian peoples, a study on their landscapes and their territories, focusing mainly on the way of life of shellfish gatherers and fishermen from Ajuruteua. The way of carrying out the research was through field description guided by the categories of territory and territorialities. The procedures were carried out through the use of photography, interviews and crossings with crab collectors in the mangroves. The world of subjects reveals to us disputes over the territory of ownership of their places of residence and work. The village under demand from tourist developments, with people who do not live there, makes it a dormitory place, which is in contrast to the Fisherman's Village where, without the infrastructure, the residents survive on stilts, devoid of basic equipment such as health centers. The territorial conflict is also over water space, and fish companies compete with small rafters, fishermen and shellfish gatherers for the best fishing spots.
