This study is articulated with work experiences with teaching Geography in a private school in the city of Palmas-Tocantins and experiences reported by teachers from the state public network. Its main objectives are to present some theoretical-practical issues that concern us in the teaching process in this area of knowledge and expose the standardization of school geographic teaching, leaving this uncritical and neutral.
