ABSTRACT. This article presents an excerpt of a study developed within a Master's program in Education, grounded in narrative research. The central objective is to analyze, from the biographical-narrative perspective of a rural school principal in the state of Paraná, the repercussions and contradictions of contemporary educational policies in the daily routine of school management and rural teaching. The study highlights that such policies are more pernicious for the specific context of rural areas, given the greater precariousness of infrastructure and teacher availability. Narrative research aims to value the subjects' perspective in their daily practices, and how, in this case, this perspective elucidates how policies are received in the school. The interviewee specifically addressed the High School Reform and the teaching career, and, based on this thematic field, three categories emerged: changes in educational policy; how they are received by teachers; career plan and employment contract. It is concluded that there is no dialogue between policies and subjects, nor is there a direct reflection between the written text of the law, its intentions, and how these legal texts are received and implemented, given the mediation of the subjects of educational practices.
