Municipal policy of teacher training: a look at Education of the Field in the municipality of Santa Maria/RS

ABSTRACT. The purpose of this article is to reflect on the importance of promoting public policies for continuing education aimed at teachers working in rural schools. In this sense, we discuss the need of working with the specificities of the rural area, bringing the potential of continuing education. As results, a specific training proposal is presented for teachers working in the rural schools, which intends to add different peasant knowledge, with the participation of the different segments of the rural community. Therefore, this study intends to foster the creation of policies for continuing education that make it possible to connect rural education to a project of sustainable and contemporary development that sensitize the subject coming from that environment in a way that can glimpse the possibilities that refer to the stay in the countryside with quality.
