La investigación científica en la extensión rural en todo el mundo: ideas para construir el conocimiento

RESUMEN. Los servicios de extensión rural se encargan de difundir tecnologías e información a los productores rurales, desempeñando así un papel importante en la promoción de un desarrollo rural equitativo. En este estudio, realizamos un análisis bibliométrico de la ciencia producida sobre extensión rural en el período 2003-2023. El análisis incluyó la búsqueda de artículos en las plataformas Capes, Scopus y Web of Science, aunque sólo utilizamos WoS para el procesamiento de datos. Nuestra búsqueda reveló 190 documentos indexados en WoS, lo que indica que la atención de la comunidad científica al tema es todavía incipiente, aunque ha habido un crecimiento relativamente fuerte en los últimos años. Los países con más publicaciones sobre extensión rural fueron Brasil (n = 93) y Argentina (n = 31). El Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas y la Universidade Federal de Viçosa fueron las organizaciones con mayor número de artículos. Los términos más citados en las publicaciones durante el período estudiado fueron "agricultores" y "desarrollo rural", mientras que los temas "agroecología" y "políticas públicas" fueron frecuentes en los artículos recientes. Este estudio podría ser útil como pauta para establecer nuevas investigaciones destinadas a hacer avanzar el conocimiento científico en el ámbito de la extensión rural, especialmente en los países del Sur Global.
