ABSTRACT. Agroecology is a science, practice, and movement that seeks sustainability in agriculture, emphasizing biological and cultural diversity and the participation of local communities in decision-making (Gliessman, 2018). This article aims to analyze the implementation and reception of the agroecology course in the rural school Educandário Humberto de Campos (EHC), in Alto Paraíso de Goiás, assessing its impacts on students’ perceptions and on the school community. The research was conducted through semi-structured interviews with administrators and teachers, as well as participant observation. The results indicate that the introduction of the course has promoted significant changes in students’ perspectives on food production, expanding their critical view of agribusiness and valuing practices related to family farming and sustainability. However, the study also revealed institutional weaknesses, such as the lack of a defined curriculum and the challenges of continuity in the face of bureaucratic transformations that took place in 2024. It is concluded that the agroecology course, even in the process of consolidation, is configured as a pedagogical instrument of cultural and political resistance, contributing to strengthening rural education and fostering alternatives to the advance of agribusiness in the territory.
